Mill Creek Kitchen

Northern Wrights opened up this half wall between a small kitchen and a large bright dining room. The southern light from this rarely used dining room at the front of the house, flooded into the kitchen creating a new flow from kitchen, to dining room, to living room space. We had many conversations with Kate and Jerome, about updating while still maintaining the integrity of the original bungalow space. We added cedar posts and a beam that compliment the solid peninsula, faced with slate tile. These elemental materials bring some of the outdoors inside, and have rich, varied textures and colours, which glow under the new led disc lights. These changes to our friends' house upgraded the ambience and function of the space while retaining its original Arts and Crafts feel.
